15 Weeks

Yesterday was officially 15 weeks, and today we went for our monthly prenatal appointment. We got to hear the baby's heartbeat again, which is always reassuring. It took our dr. a little while to find the heartbeat, which did make me slightly nervous. But after about 30 seconds (which felt like 5 minutes!), we were able to hear a strong heartbeat at 166 beats per minute. Our doctor said that we had an active baby today. We joked that the baby was just being difficult and hard headed like his/her daddy...HA! One great thing that we were able to do was to schedule our BIG ultrasound!! We will find out if we are having a little boy or girl on March 25th at 2 PM. It can't come soon enough!! I dont know how I will be able to wait 4 LOOOONG weeks, but I will give it my best effort. I had a dream last night that we were told it was a girl, but for some reason, I still have a strong feeling that it is a boy. Justin is convinced it will be a girl, so we will see who is right! Other than that, I am slowly still putting on weight, and am just at the point where I can't quite fill out maternity clothes yet, but regular clothes are WAY too tight. My sister in law Becca sent me a huge box of GREAT maternity clothes that are so cute. I am wearing one of the shirts in the picture. Thank you Becca!! Also in this picture I am wearing a bella band, which allows me to wear my regular pants, but unbuttoned...so much more comfy! The doctor says Im right where I should be weight gain-wise, so I am feeling good about that!!

14 Weeks

This week, the baby is about the size of a lemon and from head to bottom measures 3 1/2 to 4 inches. I am thinking that it might be a boy more and more as time goes on, but I know that there is also a 50% chance that it is a girl. We will be happy either way!!! I am feeling great and have had plenty of energy. Last week, Wasabi Japanese Restaurant opened right outside of our neighborhood. We have been waiting on it to open forever, and we were able to go to opening night. We have been a total of three times in the last week. The sushi there is AMAZING!! Of course, I only get two rolls that are fully cooked. The chefs even prepare it separately so that there is no mixing with the raw stuff. Still, we have spent some $$ there this week! We're in trouble! :)

Great Results!!

I got my bloodwork results back today. The bloodwork results are combined with my scan results, age, family history, etc to come up with an number that determines the baby's odds of having downs syndrome or Trisomy 18. Our results were:

Odds of Downs/Trisomy 21: 1 in 15,701
Odds of Trisomy 18: 1 in 28,081

Great News!!

Here I am at 13 weeks pregnant. I think I am in a funny stage between looking really bloated and looking kinda pregnant. I am feeling great and should be receiving the results of my NT blood work this week.

12 1/2 week Nuchal Scan

Today was a big day! We got loads of new pictures of the baby which was SO exciting. This scan was to measure the space behind the back of the baby's neck to assess the risk of downs syndrome and Trisomy. Any measurement under 3 mm is considered normal, although under 2 mm is optimal. We were able to get some great measurements because the baby was being nice and still for the scan, and measured right at 1.4 mm. As soon as the tech was done measuring, our baby started rocking and rolling around. He/she looked like a little jumping bean and waved at us several times. Ironically, the tech caught the baby doing what they call the "ballerina pose". Justin and I both got a laugh at that one. We were so happy to count 5 beautiful fingers on each hand, see a prominent nasal bone, as well as see a strong beating heart at 159 bpm. The tech showed us the forming brain, stomach, and spine. We also got a shot of the baby bottoms up. The tech pointed out what looks like a "nub" that is looking like a boy, but warned us that at this stage, boys and girls both have nubs. So we will have to wait and see! I still have to wait on my bloodwork in order to get an accurate assessment of the test, but both the tech and my doctor were more than happy with the results of the nuchal scan. I am attaching LOTS of pictures of of our little dancing baby!

A few more..

12 Weeks

Yes, I realize that i am wearing the same outfit as the week before. I think I need to go shopping. :) Also, my pants are getting pretty tight!! I have put on about 2 pounds so far, but I can really feel it. I am not eating quite as healthy as before I was pregnant, but some nights the dinner that we have at home to cook sounds horrible to me! BUT I am still eating healthy most of the time and am still working out 4-5 times a week. Brooke and Adrian gave sent us some great new baby books and gave us a gift certificate to baby GAP. This past weekend, we made our first baby purchase...a onesie that says "I love my Daddy" (guess who picked that out!), one that has his/her horoscope sign, and a little christmas outfit for next year that was on sale. Shopping for the baby definitely made it more real for us!!
