28 Weeks

This past week was a fun week, mainly because it was a long weekend for Memorial Day. We spent the weekend going to a friend's wedding, going to a movie (Angels and Demons), and just taking it easy. Meri was in town for the wedding, and it was great to spend time with my partner in crime! I wish I had something more exciting to write about from this past week, but uneventful weeks are good weeks to me! As far as Jackson is concerned, he has been moving all around and I feel it ALL the time now. Today after I ate lunch, I felt him start moving a good bit. I put my hand on my stomach and pushed in to see if I could feel it even stronger, and wouldn't you know it, he started pushing back. I dont know what part of him was pushing back, but he did it several times. It was the weirdest thing!! And he was pretty strong for a little guy. That was pretty cool!!

The most challenging thing that I have been dealing with lately related to pregnancy is the constant heartburn. It comes after every meal now, no matter what I eat or what time of day. It wakes me up every night, and the only relief I have is when I take tums...thank goodness for tums! Other than that, I am still working out 5 nights a week for about 45 mins to an hour. I am thankful that I still have the energy (for now) to do that! Bending over is getting pretty painful too, since the belly seems to be growing by the day!! But all things considered, I feel so fortunate that this pregnancy has been a breeze so far. Hopefully it will continue throughout delivery as well :)

27 Weeks

Today we got to see our beautiful little boy again, and I have attached several pictures from our ultrasound. The baby looked wonderful and he is currenly weighing in at 2.5 lbs. The ultrasound tech took his measurements and he is measuring slightly ahead, in the 57th percentile. My amniotic fluid level looked great and he is positioned head down, which was wondeful news. My doctor said there was a slight chance that he could rotate before delivery, but that it is unlikely. During the ultrasound he was an active little guy and at one point he was folded completely in half with his feet over his head. We got some great shots of his feet, face, and his "boy parts" again, which he was very happy to show off. I also took my glucose test today which tests for gestational diabetes and I passed with flying colors! Yay! From the looks of things today, it appears that he has my nose, Justin's mouth, and Justin thinks that he has my chin. But I guess we will just have to wait and see! Either way, he is already SO cute. I can't believe that we will get to meet him in just 13 weeks.

This past week was eventful and fun-filled, as it was my graduation weekend. I graduated on Friday morning and was sitting in the sun in a black cap and gown the whole time...It was H-O-T!! Steven Colbert was our speaker and so the graduation speech was really fun and interesting. I had a WONDERFUL time celebrating through all of the weekend festivities with friends and family. I was so tired yesterday and had a fun day on the couch vegging out and watching movies. All in all, this past week was a wonderful week and I am so very thankful for that!

26 Weeks

Well, here I am at 26 weeks. Over the past couple of days, Jackson has been really moving and kicking. I'm not complaining at all about it, though, because it is very reassuring and I love it. What hasn't been fun at all is the increasingly horrible heartburn that has become a daily thing. I am getting it after every meal now, and it wakes me up at night. Last night, I woke up choking from it and was up about every hour from the pain. Taking Tums gives me some relief, but I am worried that it is only going to get worse as I get bigger. So I am going to stop eating earlier in the evening with hopes that that helps. If the old wives tale is true that heartburn=hairy baby, then we are going to have a mini wolfman on our hands! :) As far as any cravings, really the biggest cravings for me are: ANY type of breakfast food (especially french toast, eggs, sausage, grits, and sugary cereal), fresh fruit (esp. strawberries, grapes, and pineapple), peanut butter, and krispy kreme donuts!! Speaking of strawberries, I went through three different batches last week...the first two tasted funny to me and we threw them out, and so we finally went to the farmers market where we found a good batch. I guess I am just really particular about my strawberries!

Justin is doing well and started his classes this week. I know he is going to do great in all of his classes and he will be graduating before we know it! Also, Justin has been taking such good care of me and is constantly making sure that I am comfortable and happy. I feel very blessed to have such a great husband, who I know is going to be a fantastic daddy!

25 Weeks

Here are the pictures from 25 weeks....and I have officially gained 20 lbs!! This past week was kind of uneventful, which was kinda nice! Jackson will have days where he is like a wild man moving around, followed by very quiet and mellow days where I always start getting a little concerned. From what I have read, this is pretty normal. He seems to be most active at night, right before I go to sleep. On Saturday, our cat Annabelle did something really cute. I went out on the porch to spend time with her and she jumped right up in my lap like she usually does. Normally she is content to sprawl out on my legs, however for the first time in a LONG time, she decided that she wanted to get as close to my face as possible and started her trek to make a bed on my chest. Well, obviously she has a pretty decent sized obstacle (the belly) now in her way, and she wasnt happy about it. She kept trying to get up by my shoulders from every angle, but she wouldn't step on my stomach. She would stick her paw on it, but before putting any pressure, she would lift it up and try another angle. Then her ears went flat back and she looked really annoyed and plopped down on my lap, pressing as hard against my belly as possible. Its almost like she was trying to push Jackson out of the way and make room for her!! I bet Jackson got quite an earful when she did that because she was purring really loud against me and she made sure the get lots of attention from her mommy. I love my sweet little fur-baby...she is such a smart kitty! Other than that, yesterday we ordered our rocker from babies r us. It was shipped today, so I can't wait to get it! Also, we got our crib a few weeks ago. We have been looking at and researching cribs/rockers for a looooong time, and the biggest challenge was matching the wood to our dresser and night table. We are taking the dresser mirror off and converting it to a changing table, so we have been looking everywhere to find matching baby furniture. The colors don't appear to match from the pictures, but they are a near-perfect match! Here they are:
We won't set up the nursery until after my baby shower, since we will have guests staying with us that weekend. I can't wait to get things set up and ready for Jackson's arrival. August is getting closer every day!! :)
